As a Church school, at TGPASJ Christianity is at the forefront of the experience for children in Religious Education. For all children, however, of all faiths or no faith, we believe that R.E. is crucial in developing spiritual, moral and cultural awareness, reinforcing values of tolerance, unity, democracy, opportunity and respect. Visits to important places of worship for a variety of religions are included as part of the entitlement experience for all children.
Principal aim:

RE explores big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can make sense of religion, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE.

The curriculum for RE aims to ensure that all pupils:

1. Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews.
2. Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews.
3. Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews.

Within Tudor Grange Primary Academy St James we want our RE curriculum to:

• Be challenging, inspiring and fun,
• Enable pupils to develop their levels of religious literacy and conceptual understanding; able to articulate, with confidence, their ideas about religion, beliefs and spirituality – and then to change their minds, if they choose to do so.
• Allow pupil to be able to reflect on some of the fundamental questions about being human and to be open to change, appreciation and challenge.
• Be an exciting subject which makes an inestimable contribution to the lives of pupils, and therefore to their communities and to society.
