Class Teacher Support
The class teacher is the first port of call for all children and parents. If you wish to discuss a matter with them, please make contact via the school office on 0121 744 7897 or office@stjames.tgacademy.org.uk
PSHE
All children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum of PSHE designed to support their social and emotional development. Our programme supports children to keep themselves safe and to develop relationships with trusted adults both in and out of school.

Our named school nurse is Louise Worrall. Referrals into the service can be made with Mrs Lynch- please contact via the school office.

Thrive
The Thrive Approach draws on insights from these fields to provide a powerful way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development. Mrs Davies is our qualified Thrive practitioner and she is able to work on a 1:1 basis with children to identify their needs and carry out therapeutic work. Parental permission must be given for a full Thrive assessment to be carried out.

Informal Mentoring
Our staff are committed to supporting pupils with the emotional and mental health. Sometimes, a listening ear and a relationship with a trusted adult go a long way to supporting this. We are able to facilitate 1:1 or group sessions.
SEMH Interventions
Support for children with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs can come in the form of interventions. These will be more formal and set for a fixed period of time after which progress will be measured to ensure that the intervention is having the right impact. Examples of this might include Lego Therapy or Nurturing groups.
SOLAR
Solar is the Solihull Mental Health Service provided by the NHS. They provide multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and young people with mental health or severe emotional and behavioural difficulties. More information can be found on their website: SOLAR Website

Forward Thinking Birmingham

Early Help
The Early Help service provides integrated support to children, young people and their families. The service is there to offer practical advice, support and direct case work to prevent issues escalating and requiring statutory intervention. MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)
If you think a child or young person is being harmed or is at risk of being harmed, MASH is where safeguarding concerns can be reported to the local authority. This can be done by anybody at anytime.
