In Year 2, we have been learning about the religion of Islam and have been discussing the question: ‘Does the Mosque give Muslims a sense of belonging? We visited Birmingham Central Mosque and had a wonderful time! While we were there, we went on a tour of the Mosque and learnt about the different features such as the ‘minarets’, the ‘dome’ and the ‘minbar’. During the tour, we learnt all about the community room and how it is used for a variety of activities. We saw a model of the Kaaba and learnt about the pilgrimage of Hajj. We were then taken upstairs to learn about the main prayer hall. Our faith guide taught us about Wudu and we took part in the actions of this ritual. We had a fantastic time there!
