In preparation for writing a persuasive letter to Charles Dickens’ nefarious fictional character Scrooge, Year 6 have had a series of experience days to become experts in character profiles, poverty in Victorian London and the meaning of The Christmas Spirit. In this experience day, we explored what The Christmas Spirit meant, and the feelings involved. The children had the opportunity to roleplay. Some children were scientists, explaining the neurological changes our brains go through when feeling nostalgic and cheerful at Christmas. The others were their case studies, relishing in the feelings. The case studies were then interviewed and quoted for how The Christmas Spirit felt and what it meant to them.
